NaPoWriMo 2015 Day 29 – The Never Never Men

Today is the pen-ultimate day of this year’s NaPoWriMo (National Poetry Writing Month), so here is my last but one contribution.

This poem was inspired by a combination of the song ‘Stormy Weather’, the proverb ‘It never rains but it pours’ and Roger McGough’s playful poetry.

It Never Rains But It Pours - Jill Tattershall

The Never Never Men

Sleepy weatherman:
It never rains
When he snores

Lazy footballer:
He never trains
But he scores

Escapologist:
He never leaves
By the doors

Spoilt rockstar:
He never entertains
Doing the chores

Anti Anti-social Relative:
He never distains
The in-laws

Royal Photographer:
He never frames
C-list celebrity bores
