Poem No. 26 Dirt

(National Poetry Writing Month – April 2013)

Dirt

I brush the speck of dirt
From my page,
Not in anger
Or in rage,
But because it looks out of place,
So I try to remove without a trace

Now the page stares blankly
Back at me,
In dirt free
Virginity,
Except for a little smudge
That only I can see
