Poem No. 12 Dazed & Confused

(National Poetry Writing Month – April 2013)

Dazed & Confused

I like to see my friends
Through the bottom of my glass,
A murky haze,
Just like my past,

I drink myself to sleep,
It’s a state of mind
I like to keep

It’s no surprise
My mood’s so flat,
Blood-shot eyes,
My glasses cracked

No loving arms
To hold me,

No gentle palms
To mould me,

No quirky charms
To enfold me,

Tired and lonely

Washed-up,
Mashed-up,
Strung-out
And hung-out

Never so bitter-tasted
A life so wasted

This is Poem No.12 in NaPoWriMo 2013 – the aim to write a poem a day during April, so 30 poems in 30 days.
